Research Purpose Statement

The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study will be to explore the leadership development experience of executive level leaders participating in a peer mentoring cohort model. For the purpose of this study, executive level leaders will be defined as one who holds a formal leadership position at the executive level of an organization. Also, for the purposes of this research, a peer mentoring cohort model will be defined as a group of individuals experiencing a development oriented relationship offering a unique connection with persons at a similar stage of development and who face some of the same decisions, challenges, and shared reality (Stanley & Clinton, 1992).

Research Questions

The following Research Questions will guide this study:

RQ1. What are the similarities and differences of structure between the three researched peer mentoring cohort models?

RQ2. How do participating leaders describe the value of their peer mentoring cohort relationships for enhancing their competencies pertinent to their particular leadership context?

RQ3. What perceived influence do these peer mentoring cohort relationships have on the participating leader’s developing understanding of their personal mission?

Research Purpose Statement

The purpose of this mixed-methods research study is to understand the relationship between leadership development models in evangelical post-baccalaureate theological education and select outcome assessment criteria: employment, leadership effectiveness, satisfaction, and tenure. A qualitative interview methodology will use to collect data identifying the leadership development models used among participating institutions. A quantitative survey methodology will be used to determine the relationship that exists, if any, between the development models and the selected assessment criteria.
