Overview

This assignment asks you to interact with the text, creatively or through performance.There are a number of options for completion that I will list below.All students will submit two items for this assignment: 1) the creative/performance project 2) a well-developed paragraph summary/explanation of your project .You will complete two creative assignments this semester. The second assignment will focus on a play that you select from the second part of the term, and is NOT a play on which you did the first assignment: either Hamlet (if you did not do Hamlet for the first assignment—otherwise choose another play), Macbeth, or The Tempest. (I ask that you do the Tempest).

For part one: Write a creative piece from the perspective of one of these characters.This could be a diary entry. A diary/journal or monologue should be about one to two pages long, or a series of diary entries totaling that length.

For part two: Write a paragraph explanation (6-8 well thought out sentences, nothing short and choppy) of your creative work, explaining the piece and the background thinking that went into its creation—how did you interpret this scene/character and how are you communicating this idea to your audience through this piece?
