Paper 1:
There are trends in healthcare that involve a more defined focus on population health and the social determinants of health. More resources and efforts are being dedicated to address the population health and the social determinants of health factors with the spotlight on improving people’s overall health in these areas. With this commitment of resources towards these factors analyze the following:
- What is the measurement for success to be used? (How will you know your efforts are successful)?
- How would you measure the return on investment? (How will you calculate the amount of ROI based your financial investment)?
- How would you market the results derived to the public?
Suggested length is 2-3 pages, double spaced.
Marketing Plan Proposal and Concept: Innovation in healthcare can manifest anywhere. Think through your experiences of times when you faced a healthcare situation where something could have been improved with another solution. Create a realistic product(s) or service(s) that is healthcare-related that currently does not exist that can satisfy a problem(s). Make this solution into a for-profit business for which you will develop a marketing plan throughout the course. This will be what you will present in week 7 for the final project. You may choose an existing product or service but must enhance or augment it so that the current marketing plan would not apply. This plan will include financials. Please submit your idea here for approval.

Paper 2: Self Reflection Paper: “What I know about the Healthcare System in the United States”
As future healthcare administrators and managers, it is important to take a few moments to reflect on what you know (or don’t) about the healthcare system we have today. In a 4-5 page essay discuss what you know, believe, do not understand, what you would like to know about our current healthcare system. There is no right or wrong to this assignment, it is a way for you to take a moment to put your thoughts on “paper”. Below are some topics you should reflect upon in your writings, please feel free to use our text for ideas and sources.
- Our healthcare system has many avenues of healthcare funding such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, Third Party insurance (either self-funded or employer-provided), and Self Pay, most citizens know little of any of these. How about you?
- Have you, or someone you know, ever had a good or bad healthcare experience, and has that influenced your feelings about our healthcare system?
- As a consumer of the healthcare system today, what are your views on the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)? Do you believe the Affordable Care Act has improved or hurt the healthcare (not system) of Americans?
- As a healthcare administrator, what do you think of our healthcare system (not healthcare) in the United States?
