Social and Privacy Issues for Behavior Analysis and Targeted Advertisement
Researchers Michal Kosinski, David Stillwell, and Thore Graepel recently published a paper (Kosinski et al., 2013) in the Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences showing some striking results. What people “Like” on Facebook is quite predictive of all manner of traits that usually are not directly apparent:
>How they score on intelligence tests
>How they score on psychometric tests (e.g., how extroverted or conscientious they are)
>Whether they drink alcohol or smoke
>Their religion and political views
Please read the paper and provide your insight into this forum. This paper foresees today’s Facebook privacy (Cambridge Analytica) and security issues. What is the connection? What should consumers and end users do? How do you fix the problem if you were MARK ZARKBURGE? What will be the consequence if we leave the issue “as is”?
